Regular Class Aircraft

As part of Aviators International Team of VIT, I contributed to the design and development of a Regular Class Aircraft for the SAE INDIA Aero Design Competition. The aircraft was designed in away of taking off within 100 feet, stable flight within 400 feet, and precise turning followed by a safe landing. We optimized its parasol wing configuration for maximum lift and used plywood and aluminum to achieve a lightweight yet robust structure, further enhanced by additive manufacturing. Powered by a Li-Po battery and a single electric motor, the aircraft delivered enough thrust with a flight time of approx 14 minutes.
Its payload bay, designed like a cargo plane and comprehensive stability analysis ensured Level 1 flight tests including phugoid, short period, roll, and Dutch roll dynamics, while achieving functional spiral stability. This comprehensive approach resulted in a high-performing, efficient, and competition-compliant aircraft, showcasing our team's expertise in design innovation and rigorous testing.
